Each year, the ACEC Dallas & ACEC Tarrant County provide a Summer Intern Program in an effort to bring the best and brightest students into the DFW Metroplex to work and learn, as well as encourage young engineers to come back to Dallas and make it their home after graduation.  The ACEC Dallas will also present (3) $1,000 scholarships to winners of an essay contest.  Please encourage your interns to take part in the program.  If you have not done so, please submit your intern contact information.

  8:30 a.m. to  9:30 a.m.  — Project Overview, Presentation, View and discuss model

  9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. — Tour of Deck Park

10:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. — Reconvene at Woodall Rodgers Office for Q&A

 

The Park will serve as a central gathering space for Dallas and its visitors to enjoy in the heart of the city. The 5.2-acre deck park will create an urban green space over the existing Woodall Rodgers Freeway between Pearl and St. Paul streets in downtown Dallas. Plans include a performance pavilion, restaurant, walking trails, a dog park, a children’s discovery garden and playground, water features, an area for games and much more.  Connectivity is central to The Park's purpose. The Park will promote increased pedestrian, trolley and bicycle use between Uptown, Downtown and the Arts District, contributing to a more walkable city center.

Trinity River Audubon Center

The Trinity River Audubon Center is the Dallas Parks and Recreation Department’s first LEED-certified building featuring a vegetated roof, rainwater collection system, energy efficient systems, and recycled materials .  Visitors have the opportunity to explore hands-on exhibits and miles of nature viewing trails.  The Center was designed by architect Antoine Predock, 2006 AIA Gold Medalist.   The actual building site, near a prominent bend in the Trinity River, is located eight minutes south of downtown Dallas. The Trinity River Audubon Center is the flagship Center for Audubon’s education and conservation initiatives in Texas.

Perot Museum of Nature & Science Expansion Project

The Museum has embarked on an exciting journey that will bring the joys of nature and science to millions of people. The new Perot Museum of Nature and Science in downtown Dallas will inspire all ages and will serve as a complement to the Museum’s existing Fair Park facility. It will invigorate Dallas by drawing visitors to the region, while providing an opportunity for guests to experience spectacular exhibitions never before seen in North Texas. A new facility is crucial if the Museum is to keep pace with the breathtaking advances in the delivery of informal science education for children and families.
